Jodo Kast

Liliana of the Veil, for Magic the Gathering. Artwork by Steve Argyle

Ok, I know he looks like Boba Fett. He’s trying to look like Fett. He desperately wants, more than anything to be Fett. Ever since he was a little boy, he dreamed of it, and practiced his menacing nod in the mirror every day. His first helmet was shoddily crafted from a bucket with tin snips and a rusty hacksaw. His first bounty hunt was for Timmy, the kid with asthma. He snuggled with a plush Darth Vader, and contracted hits on Kermit, and Mr. Bear. But he is not Boba Fett. He’s Jodo Kast. And it’s no longer cute now that he’s a full grown poseur extraordinaire.  His blasters don’t even fire laser bolts. They fire shame and self-loathing. His jetpack is fueled with the tears of a life wasted. However, he does win Star Wars Trivia bar night, and the bar gift certificates are almost enough to drink the regret away.
